Michael Riddick grew up on a family farm that was sold in 1999, which led him to pursue two college degrees and a career in corporate America. In 2012, he began pursuing his dream of restarting the family farm. He purchased 125 acres of farmland originally acquired by his grandfather in 1940 and rented an additional 300 acres to establish Riddick Farms.

While working a full-time job with a global agribusiness, he farmed nights and weekends. By 2019, he had grown the operation to just over 4,000 acres and decided to leave corporate America to farm full time. With the grace of God, the support of his family, and strong relationships with landowners, the operation has expanded to 7,000 acres, producing wheat, canola, corn, soybeans, rice, and cotton.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN:

  • That scaling a farm from 125 acres to 7,000 acres requires relentless execution and long-term vision.
  • How building a farming operation while working full-time in corporate America demands discipline and sacrifice.
  • Why revitalizing a multi-generational family farm can become a powerful driver of purpose and resilience.
  • That securing land partnerships and trust with landowners is essential for sustainable agricultural expansion.
  • How starting from limited resources can scale into a diversified 7,000-acre crop production system.
  • Why transitioning from corporate agribusiness to full-time farming requires calculated risk-taking and strong conviction.
  • That crop diversification across wheat, corn, soybeans, rice, canola, and cotton reduces operational risk.
  • How strong relationships with landowners directly enable long-term scaling and agricultural stability and business growth.
  • Why perseverance, family support, and faith are critical to sustaining multi-generational farming success over time.
